PORN BAN ONLY CONFINED TO CHILD PORNOGRAPHY SITES - CLARIFIES MINISTER
Bowing to a public outcry, the government on Tuesday said it would lift a days-old ban on hundreds of pornographic websites after critics accused the government of encroaching on personal freedoms.
Over the weekend, Indian authorities ordered Internet providers to block 857 websites deemed to carry pornographic material, saying the ban was needed to protect public morality.
But the order drew outrage and ridicule, particularly after many of the websites were found not to feature any pornography, and even Indian officials acknowledged that the ban could be subverted by readily available Internet tools.
Information and Technology Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said late Tuesday that “the ban will be partially withdrawn” and that only sites that carry child pornography would remain blocked, according to Indian news media.
That appeared to be an attempt at face-saving, however, as pornography featuring minors already was illegal under the law.

The truth is that for a kid who hasn’t yet reached sexual awakening, those images will mean nothing and once he reaches the age, nature will induce him by instinct to awaken like it always did ever since homosapiens came into existence some 60 thousand years ago..All the so called deviant sexual acts have been documented from Harappa mohenjadaro civilisations onwards much before the P of Porn was invented One other fear is that it will make men pursue harder and harder forms of it, in order to reach higher and higher levels of stimulation. ..They fear that need for greater stimulation could also make one feel that they would develop unrealistic expectations from the real women in their real life. This argument holds as much water as women seeing an action film will expect their husbands and boyfriends to be as tough as the hero and beat up 20 people on the screen. Porn is nothing but a stimulant for a nature given sexual desire the same way as how tastier and tastier dishes are prepared to satisfy our hunger for food ..Its also in the same way as how action films are a stimulant for a natural will to power. That’s because the desire to seek sexual pleasure and power are the prime motivators of life I believe that decisions about sexual aspects and career aspects are the most important decisions that we should be free to make. That and the judgment of other people's sexual desires should be made based upon information that is examined carefully and only after weighing the balance and influence of assumptions should it be determined,whether uninformed and assumed speculations are really consistent with scientific data..They should not be based on knee jerk reactions from self appointed moral policemen..Yes since sex is a very powerful drive it's possible that porn might affect some individuals in extremely rare cases ..But on the basis of that to ban it is like banning traffic because of occasional accidents Adults in our society are so embarrassed to talk to their kids about sex and abstinence-only sex education continues to be pervasive even today..But kids of today will anyway know about everything and anything from the Internet including sex and yes of course they will and do form their own opinions like we all adults have always formed our own opinions..Let us be honest and look into our own past and remember what affected us when that is sexually speaking The panicky sermons that we hear about what porn is doing and will do makes us give attention to porn in a wrongly directed way than to just enjoy it for the sake of what it is,which is nothing but a stimulant for a natural desire and a gateway for a fantasy There’s no scientific evidence that the effect of porn on your brain is any different from what is generated by television or movies or video games. It’s a proven scientific fact that a greater social access to pornography actually decreases sexual crimes..Instead of creating an atmosphere for sexual crimes porn actually provides a more safer outlet for sexual frustration. And coming to its psychological effects, thinking about slapping your boss doesn’t increase the chances of you doing it nor desiring the woman u saw at the beach increase the chance of you sexually assaulting her..This in the same way as one doesn't join a dacoits gang because he liked Gabbar in Sholay nor people have started joint families after watching Hum Aapke Hai Kaun The world is at a stage where everyone knows everything because of the Internet and that's because an individual has freedom to access any and everything available which includes Porn ..Porn is here to stay not by itself,but only because millions and millions of people want it and the proof of that is for anyone to see by the trillions of views..That's the reason America legalised it decades ago because a true democratic government will never go against its people's wishes and especially against consenting adults wishes..The people having sex on camera, the people shooting the act and the people watching them are all doing it out of their own free will and no one has any business to stop them..The Supreme Court of the United States of America in its judgment in the case of Larry Flynt said " if you don't like porn don't watch it,but you can't come in the way of the people who want to watch it" All the countries who legalised porn are the ones who developed vastly not because of porn but that's indicative of their liberal minds and their respect for an individuals freedom I honestly think Porn does more to the people than even governments do because it atleast gives a few minutes of happiness which I doubt any government really can do ..So as long as Porn is accepted as a reality that we have to live with,it makes sense to talk to our kids about it instead of pretending that it doesn’t and shouldn't exist. After letting them know that you are aware that they too are aware of porn only then you can probably educate them about its ills if any .. But medically speaking, you can smoke yourself to death, you can drink yourself to death, but you can't sex yourself to death and the irony is that's where all the restrictions come Just because it suits some regressive minded people,they keep on attempting to repress society in every which way and this present attempt to ban porn is nothing but one of those strangulation processes of an individual's liberty ..I sincerely hope enough people and mainly celebrities and leaders will shed their inhibitions and come out in the open to speak against any ban in general and against porn in particular RGV
