Imran Khan's Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has approached the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), seeking Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's ineligibility to hold his office.
The party spokesperson said that her party filed the petition on the grounds that the Prime Minister did not fulfill the qualifications specified in Article 62 and Article 63 of the Constitution.
This comes after one of the local leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party, Faqir Jamsheed Ahamd was killed on 4th of this month along with his driver and personal gunman when their vehicle hit a roadside bomb in the northwest of the country. Faqir Jamsheed Ahamd's vehicle was targeted on Muddhi Road near Dera Ismail Khan in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province.
The Government was also taking harsh steps to prevent terrorism in country.It is reported by officials that as many as 1,685 people have been killed in targeted killings in Karachi since an operation was launched against criminals in the city.
But it is also reported that 49 bomb blasts, 84 kidnappings for ransom and 1,181 cases of extortion took place in Karachi during the same period. Moreover,1,480 incidents of street crime occurred in the city in this time.
